SEO Tips From Semalt For Businesses Oriented On Multiple Physical Locations

In concept local SEO is very simple. You sit and formulate a strategy to associate your brand with a specific geographic location (usually a city or region) so that it (your brand) appears in local searches. For example, if you have a laundry business in Texas then local SEO ensures that anybody searching for laundry services in or around Texas finds you. The process may be complex but the concept is easy to understand.

Things get a little complicated when your business has a presence in more than one location. Since you can’t link your SEO strategy to one location, what should you do? Anrew Dyhan, the Customer Success Manager of Semalt shares the tips that will help your brand get more visibility through local SEO. Keep in mind that these tips are meant for businesses with multiple locations.

A single domain should do for all your locations

Make a point of having all your locations hosted on a single domain. You may be tempted to build a website for each of your service locations but that’s not good. Here’s why: creating multiple websites hinders your effort to build significant domain authority. Instead of one dominant domain you’d have multiple low authority websites. Back to the laundry business example – focus on a single domain (like laundryservice.com) rather than ftworthlaundryservice.com, houstonlaundryservice.com and dallaslaundryservice.com.

Assign a webpage for each service location

As much as all your service locations are hosted on a single domain, there is need to assign a webpage for each one. The best way to do this would be by designing a “Locations” tab in your header then list them here. Make sure to include the address, contact details and hours of business. This way, Google and other search engines can find and associate the relevant information to each establishment.

Clean up your local citations

Just because everything looks good in your website doesn’t mean everything is good on the web. Local review websites like Yelp will list your service locations with individual profiles so it’s up to you to claim and check that the given information is correct. You can’t afford even a single discrepancy as this spells doom to your SEO strategy. There are tools you can use for cleaning these citations.

Use specific content for each service location

There is no shortcut here. If you want to optimize for each location, then you must post location-specific content. In other words, each service location should have fresh content written and optimized. If you think you can’t handle this at once, try rotating them. Post a blog for each location every week. Use local keywords. In addition to this, encourage your clients to write reviews. Appoint somebody from each location to respond to these reviews. This will not only boost your visibility but also help you right any mistakes thereby improving service delivery.

Implementing these tips should set you on the road to success. To boost your effort, keep your blog active with fresh content, check out for reviews and respond to them, utilize outbound and inbound links, and organize for regular audits of your citations.
